JagSim’s Chart is a charting screen and an order box on one page. Add indicators and put their panes in the order you read them, arrange the drawing tools you use, switch between nine chart types and find any stock, ETF or coin from one search, then practice the trade with $100,000 in virtual money on real-time prices.
The short version: Everything below is on the Chart of a free JagSim account, beside the order box, and your setup is saved on your account, so another device opens the same.
| Group | Indicators |
|---|---|
| On the price | Moving average, EMA, Bollinger Bands, VWAP, Parabolic SAR, Donchian Channel, Ichimoku cloud |
| Momentum | RSI, MACD, Stochastic, ADX |
| Volatility | Average True Range |
| Volume | Volume, On-Balance Volume |
Indicators & tools lists every indicator under what it acts on, with a search box and a one-line plain definition of each. VWAP measures one trading session, so it works on 1-minute to 1-hour candles: for a stock it starts again at the 9:30 AM open, for a coin at midnight New York time. A moving average and volume are explained, with worked examples, in the free glossary.
Indicators that draw below the price (Volume, RSI, MACD, Stochastic, Average True Range, On-Balance Volume and ADX) each get a pane. Once there are two panes, each pane’s label row on a laptop has small up and down arrows: press one and the panes are redrawn in the new order at once, each with its own settings. Indicators & tools lists the same panes, numbered, under “Panes under the chart”, and that list is where a phone moves them. The order is saved on your account, a pane you turn off keeps its place for when you turn it on again, and every chart in a two or four chart layout follows the same order.
The toolbar down the left of the chart holds the Crosshair and your drawing tools: trend line, horizontal line, vertical line, ray, rectangle, brush, Fibonacci retracement, text, measure, Long position and Short position. Press the + under them to open Customize toolbar. There you choose which tools are on it and put them in any order, by dragging a row’s six-dot handle with a mouse, a finger or a pen, or with its up and down arrows. The Crosshair always stays at the top. The toolbar redraws as you go, and the order is saved on your account.
At the foot of the toolbar, Magnet snaps each point you place to the nearest open, high, low or close of its candle, Lock all and Hide all act on every drawing on the screen, and Remove all drawings asks once before it clears the chart (Undo brings them back).
Long position plans a buy in one press: an entry, a stop and a target set from the recent candles, with the risk/reward, the shares that risk 1% of your buying power at the stop and the dollars at the target and at the stop. Drag its handles to move any of the three. Short position draws the same plan the other way, per share; it is a planning drawing only, as JagSim has no short selling.
On a phone the drawing tools are under Tools, Draw on the chart, where a phone draws with the Crosshair, the trend line, the horizontal line and the two position tools, beside the Magnet, Lock all, Hide all and Remove all.
The Chart type menu has candles, hollow candles, bars (OHLC), line, line with markers, step line, area, baseline and Heikin Ashi. Heikin Ashi candles are averaged, so the chart says they are not real prices, and the price on the axis, the order box and alerts always use the real price. Candles come in 1, 5, 15 and 30 minutes, 1 hour and 1 day, and the range runs from one day to one year. How to read one is on what is a candlestick chart.
Press the search box in the Chart header for one list with four chips: All, Stocks, ETFs and Crypto. Before you type, it shows your recent symbols (saved on your account, with Clear recent) and the popular ones. Each row shows the ticker and the name, what it is (stock, ETF, ADR, preferred or crypto), where it trades or “Trades 24/7” for a coin, and the last price with the day’s change. Up and Down walk the list, Enter opens a row and Esc closes it; on a phone the list fills the screen. Only symbols JagSim can trade and price are offered.
A free account shows one chart. JagSim Pro shows two or four charts on one screen on a laptop or tablet (a phone shows one), with a different symbol on each, and the L key switches between single, split and quad. The Layout dialog has three ready-made layouts for every plan: Day trader (5-minute candles, VWAP and Volume), Swing trader (daily candles, the 10, 20 and 50 day moving averages and RSI) and Beginner (daily candles and one 50 day moving average), each with its own drawing tools. Save your own layout under a name there, with its indicators and their pane order, the drawing tools, the interval and the chart type: a free account keeps 1 and JagSim Pro keeps 25, saved on your account so another device has them.
The order box sits beside the chart, so a level you drew is a level you can trade, with a market, limit or stop order and $100,000 in virtual money. Press A for a price alert at the last price, practice a past day in market replay, or turn on the order keys and one-click trading.
Indicators are arithmetic on past prices. They are not signals, and JagSim never says what to buy or sell or where a price is going. The chart is for practicing with virtual money, and nothing on it is investment advice.
